Today was a hectic day in the conflict news’ cycle:

  • Aid is going in though claims say otherwise because they mistranslated the crossings
  • A strike on Hamas munitions that then exploded caused secondary fires
  • Hezbollah command center found, planned an attack to invade Northern Israel
  • Columbus is not a Jew

Claims that aid hasn’t gone into Gaza in October are false, particularly in the North where IDF strikes have occurred

COGAT AKA (Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories: Judea and Samaria and towards the Gaza Strip I Coordinating and facilitating humanitarian aid for Gaza) tracks aid going into Gaza and other humanitarian services like field hospitals

It’s complicated to share the debunking thread so feel free to search for it on the web, but COGAT has a clarification on the widely circulated ProPublica piece on denied aid. I mention it because in this particular case having followed the aid situation I noticed the mistakes in the findings and was pretty surprised ProPublica went ahead anyway.

There are reports of horrific attacks on civilian tents in Gaza where refugees were caught in the strikes on munitions and burned to death. It’s not clear yet if this strike took place in the manner reported in social media videos because organizations like MSF (Doctors Without Borders) are claiming otherwise. Like most attacks with casualties, we should refrain from emotional lambasting until we know what really happened.

While some of the claims are not credible, I sadly do think Shaaban Al Dalo died in the strike along with four others.

In Lebanon, the IDF found a Hezbollah command center with documentation about a planned invasion of Northern Israel

UNIFIL, the Irish peacekeeping force, has been loudly decrying IDF presence in Lebanon. Unfortunately, in this case, there is evidence of collusion between UNIFIL and Hezbollah.

In aiding Hezbollah, UNIFIL is actually violating their mandate for being there and also putting Lebanese civilians at risk.

Oh, and antisemites on Indigenous People’s Day in the US have peddled a bad study that claims Columbus was a Jew.
